PDPC Donations

Peer-Directed Projects Center, an IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt corporation, was created to run the freenode network and to establish a variety of programs relating to peer-directed project communities. Contributions to PDPC provide resources to help us establish those programs.

Beginning in 2004, we established formal donation levels. When you donate, please provide your realname and your snailmail address for our records. You can also help the network by wearing a cloak while you're IRC. Just do a bit of setup and mention your registered IRC nick to us when you donate. We'll add the cloak and, when you identify to services, it will show others the level of support you've provided. By displaying that cloak, you'll let people know that you consider it important to donate!

Information about cloaks: Currently we are experiencing a time delay with setting up PDPC supporter cloaks, expect around 14 days turnover time, if you have not had your cloak toggled on within fourteen days of donating, please /msg christel or LoRez on irc.

Currently, you can send your donation in one of two ways:

By Credit Card or PayPal. Just click on one of the buttons on the left-hand side of the page to send your donation.
By Check. If you'd like to donate via the mails, send a check or money order. Don't send cash. Please make it payable (in US dollars) to Peer-Directed Projects Center. Mark the donation as: "donation, unrestricted" and we'll be able to apply it to either general operations or to specific programs. Please include your irc nick if you're willing to have your donation acknowledged on freenode and include an irc channel if you wish to have your donation linked with a specific channel you frequent. In addition to direct donations, you can help the network by joining Affero. When you provide support online, Affero allows people to express their appreciation by donating to the causes of your choice. Affero recipients include Peer-Directed Projects Center and everything from Amnesty International to YAS. Privacy Note: Peer-Directed Projects Center is currently in the process of formulating a privacy policy. This notice describes the interim policy on privacy, adopted 31 January 2005, to which PDPC has committed itself with respect to the personal information we collect from and about you as part of the donation process:

Peer-Directed Projects Center (PDPC) may provide your email address, telephone number or postal address, as provided to it as part of the donation process, to its volunteers, employees or contractors, solely to allow them to contact you on its behalf or to verify the accuracy of the information you provide. PDPC will not publish that information or provide it to any other third party without your explicit permission, except as required by law or as appropriate in the course of an investigation of criminal wrongdoing. PDPC will make a good faith effort to maintain the privacy of your personal information.

As part of the donation process, PDPC may request your IRC nickname and/or a channel name or group in whose name you are donating. Providing this information is optional. If you provide such information, in a letter to us which includes a donation or as part of the PayPal donation process:

We may publicly mention your IRC nickname in order to acknowledge the fact of your donation. If you do not wish us to do so, please mention this explicitly in your letter or in the PayPal Note to Sender.

We may publicly mention the name of the channel or group in whose name you are donating. Again, if you do not wish us to do so, please mention this explicitly in your letter or in the PayPal Note to Sender.

We will attempt to add a hostname cloak to your registered IRC nickname and to any IRC nicknames you have linked to it, including a level name based on the amount of your donation. We may publicly mention the support level at which you've donated and/or the previous support level(s) from which you've upgraded.

Once again, if you do not wish us to do so, please mention this explicitly in your letter or in the PayPal Note to Sender.
